About Yocmar

A long route in the same valley.

Yocmar started in 2005 with one truck and a route across North Las Vegas. Twenty-one years later most of the calls are still irrigation — valves that won't close, drip lines that won't drip, controllers that lost their schedule after a brownout.

The work is unglamorous and specific. A valve diaphragm. A pressure regulator the original installer forgot. A drip emitter clogged with caliche silt. We've been doing it long enough that the diagnosis usually happens at the curb.

Most repairs land in one visit because the part is already on the truck.

— Porfirio Flores

The irrigation work — what we see most

Five failures, five fixes, and the part that lives on the truck.

The five failures we see most often in North Vegas yards, what each one actually is, and the fix. Common parts ride in the truck so single-visit completion is the default.

Symptom

Valve weeps continuously — wet patch next to the manifold even when the system is off.

Our fix

Pull the valve, replace the diaphragm (or the whole body if the seat is scored), test the manifold under pressure.

25 minutes if we have the right model in the truck.

Symptom

One drip zone keeps drying out a single shrub; everything else looks fine.

Our fix

Lift the gravel, trace the line, replace the clogged emitter or splice a clean run. Restake the lateral so the gravel doesn’t pinch it again.

One visit. Spare emitters always on the truck.

Symptom

Sprinkler heads on one zone misting and fogging; the rest of the yard runs normal.

Our fix

Install a zone-specific pressure regulator sized to the head type. Vegas mains run hot; without one, heads atomize the water.

PRS-30 or PRS-40 sized to the manifold. 30 minutes.

Symptom

Controller forgot its schedule after a brownout — or runs the wrong zones at the wrong times.

Our fix

Re-program from scratch on a Mojave calendar (April through October needs three different schedules). Replace the controller if the surge took the board.

Hunter X-Core or Rain Bird ESP-Me both in stock.

Symptom

Anti-siphon valve hisses at the top of the manifold; pressure feels weak everywhere downstream.

Our fix

Replace the poppet and the bonnet seal. If the body is cracked from a freeze, swap the whole valve and re-flux the union.

Most repairs single-visit; rebuild kits common.

None of these need a system replacement. They need someone who's seen the failure before — and the right part already on the truck.

A note from the owner

Twenty-one years in the same valley.

I started Yocmar in 2005. One truck, a route across North Las Vegas, and the irrigation work nobody else wanted to take seriously.

Twenty-one years later the route is wider and the calls are the same. A diaphragm that won't seat. A drip line baking under the gravel. A controller that lost its program after a brownout. Vegas mains run hot, the summers run hard, and the same five failures show up in yard after yard.

What changed isn't the failures — it's how fast we get to the answer. After two decades of the same work the diagnosis usually happens at the curb, and the part is already on the truck.
